After halting services in Islamabad, Karachi, Multan and other cities in 2022, Uber has now terminating its services in Lahore.
The online-riding service has suddenly become unoperational in the city without any official announcement. when users tried to access the app they met with a message that “uber is no longer in Lahore.”
According to Uber’s spokesperson;
“We’ve made the decision to cease operating the Uber app in Pakistan. Our subsidiary brand Careem will continue to operate, with the Careem app offering ride-hailing services across Pakistan and earning opportunities for drivers.”
Moreover “Careem Rides may reach out to you to check in and sign up, Please fill the form given below by May 3, 2024”.If the users holding cash balance in Uber Wallet, we will be communicating with you in due course on the process for reclaiming your Uber Cash balance.”
As compensation, Uber is offering a discount on Careem instead, by using the code LHR50, Careem users can get a 50% discount on their next 5 rides.
It should be noted that In 2019, Uber had Took over Careem for $3.1 billion.
