
The National Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed monthly charges ranging from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1000 for residential consumers, effective from July 1, 2024.

At current the cost of electriciy consists of 72 percent fixed and 28 percent of variable charges. Fixed charges is making only 2 percent of revenue while variable charhes are making 98 percent. NEPRA aims to fix new charges.
Meanwhile, the government will submit the petition with Nepra soon, seeking uniform tariff for FY25 after the electric power regulator has determined the increase base tariff for FY25 at Rs5.72 per unit.
