
After persistent hard work Pakistan has been elected as a non-permanent member of United Nation Security Council, securing hugeMinistry of majority held by General Assembly in New York. Pakistan recieves 182 votes in the 193 member General Assembly, surpassing the requires 124 votes for two-third majority.
After winning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that, “We are grateful to all the members of UN General Assembly who voted for Pakistan and electing it as non-permanent member of Security Council. We are also thankful to the menbers of Asia-Pacific group for supporting Pakistan’s nomination for the Council.
President of General Assenbly, Dennis Francis, declared the names of the winners, Pakistan, Greece, Denmark, Panama and Somalia to replace Japan, Malta, Ecuador, Mozambique and Switzerland and congratulated them on their victory.

Pakistan’s representative to UN, Munir Akram remarked, “Pakistan’s election represents the confidence of the international community in Pakistan’s ability to promote the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. “Pakistan would work actively with other Council members to advance shared objectives, particularly in preventing and peacefully settling conflicts, he added.”
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed his happiness and congratulates the nation on acheiving this milestone. he stated that:
“Proud moment as Pakistan receives a resounding 182 votes and is elected to the United Nations Security Council for the term 2025-26. Our election to the Council with such overwhelming support of UN member states at this critical time bears testament to the international community’s confidence in Pakistan’s diplomatic standing as well as to our commitment to global peace & security.”
